Reader Recipe: Sausage Bread

sausage bread
I am so excited to add my first ever Reader Recipe.  This recipe for sausage bread came from reader, Teah Tracy.  It’s great for breakfast, lunch, dinner or snacks.  We hope you enjoy it.

2 loaves frozen bread
1 pound turkey breakfast sausage
2 cups grated cheese
1 diced green bell pepper (optional)
1 diced onion (optional)

Follow bread package instructions on thawing, then let rise at least slightly.
Preheat oven to 350.
Brown the sausage and add the bell pepper and onion if you choose to use them.
Roll each of the bread loaves out flat (use flour on counter top to prevent sticking if needed).
Add 1/2 of the meat to one rolled out bread loaf and sprinkle 1 cup of cheese on the top of the meat.
Fold the ingredients into the bread and close the ingredients into the bread on top and on the sides.
Repeat for the second loaf.
Bake loaves on baking sheet for 25 minutes or until the bread is golden brown and cooked thoroughly.
Brush melted butter on the top of baked bread loaves (optional).
Slice the bread and serve.

This simple recipe has been a crowd pleaser with my whole family and is a staple in my weekly dinner planning.  -Teah
