Thanks to Meg with “What’s Up Moms?” I made some delicious homemade peanut butter for the first time ever! Peanut butter is very important in our household. My son is a very picky eater, and peanut butter is not only something he loves, but also a source of protein for him since he doesn’t like many meats. Because he consumes peanut butter at least 5 times per week, I’ve been buying a natural version for months. I figured that if he eats it that often its important to feed him a higher quality version. But I now know that making it myself is even better. I know exactly what went into it, it’s fresh and it tastes really great.
You’ll see in Meg’s video that there are only 4 ingredients in her peanut butter. Recipes with minimal ingredients are the absolute best. I already had kosher salt and honey, so all I had to buy were the peanuts and the oil. Love it.
For one batch, which filled more than half of a pint-sized mason jar, I used half of the peanuts, a couple of pinches of salt, about a tablespoon of honey and less than 1/4 cup of peanut oil. It turned out really great and thankfully, my picky eater loves it just as much as the store-bought peanut butter.
Remember to check out Meg’s video about how to make your own homemade peanut butter. Enjoy!
