Thanksgiving is an incredible holiday. A celebration based upon being grateful and upon eating delicious food with loved ones is, without a doubt, one of the best celebrations of the year. There is no religious controversy involved. There are no behavior expectations and consequences (who cares if you’ve been naughty or nice!). The weather is typically nice and cool. And to top it all off, there’s The Macy’s Thanksgiving Day Parade! (Hey, don’t judge. You know you love that damn parade.) I must admit that Christmas ranks just a slot higher on my Favorite Holidays list, but that’s probably just because of the catchy Christmas music, sentimental Hallmark Christmas movies and all the sparkle and color. Otherwise, I’d say that Thanksgiving is an absolutely ideal holiday. This will be Rowdy’s second Thanksgiving. I remember feeding him sweet potato baby food on Thanksgiving Day last year and dressing him in his really cute Thanksgiving onesie. He looked adorable, of course. He is now approaching 18-months-old and is fully capable of eating just about anything within our Thanksgiving feasts. We’ll work on our What We’re Thankful For lists next year when he can form full sentences, but for this year I simply hope his Thanksgiving is full of fun moments and delicious food…and a few good Kodak moments to make his mother happy. 🙂
What are your hopes for Thanksgiving 2012? Do you and your kiddos have any special Thanksgiving traditions?
