I have made these homemade pizzas twice. They’re ridiculously easy, refreshingly simple in taste and totally versatile. I made two plain cheese pizzas and a turkey pepperoni pizza this time. My 1-year-old even helped put the pepperonis on the pizza. Oh, and the best news of all? The entire cheese pizza is only about 455 calories and the entire pepperoni pizza is only about 410 calories! I think I’ll throw in some veggies next time I make these. Bell pepper and onion would be very tasty. 🙂
Here’s how you and your kiddo can make them yourselves.
lafa bread (basically a thinner version of pita bread – I got mine at Central Market in Houston.)
1 can of diced tomatoes pre-seasoned with garlic and basil (1 can was enough for 3 pizzas)
Heat oven to 400. Brush about 1/2 tablespoon of olive oil on lafa bread. Spoon 1/3 of the can of tomatoes on the crust. Add 2 ounces of shredded mozzarella for the pepperoni pizza or 3 ounces for the plain cheese. If you’re making pepperoni add 8 turkey pepperonis. You can also add any extra Italian seasonings you’d like. Bake for approximately 10 minutes.
